Moustapha Diop was born in Senegal but is a South African citizen. He has been operating a stall from the “red sheds” in the CBD for the last 11 years and has become a familiar figure amongst locals and tourists. His business was disrupted because his rental contract was terminated when the Municipality put the complex out to tender. He was however able to secure a lease on a stall although the new rental was substantially higher. Moustapha sells clothing, paintings, jewellery and bags. Some products are sourced from Senegal via family members; the pictures are painted locally. His business has not done well recently as a result of the drop-off in tourists and the generally poor economic climate. “I need a loan to purchase more stock to take advantage of the coming summer/tourist season and the Whale Festival, which attracts a lot of business.”
Total loan applied for R6000
This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.
When clicking on the crowdfunding page you may find that your chosen project is already ENDED. This means that either the project is already fully funded or, that the time available to raise the funds has elapsed. In which case kindly search for another project to contribute towards.
