My name is Bongiwe Maku. I have been purchasing ranges of new clothes from various suppliers in Cape Town and Johannesburg. These are pre-sold to regular customers via social media: Facebook and Whatsapp. They order the items from the on-line catalogues of the suppliers; I then pay the suppliers for the items chosen and have them couriered to Hermanus or I collect them personally. Customers are mainly in Hermanus, but I deliver orders as far afield as Gansbaai and Kleinmond. Customers do not pay in advance, which means I have to carry the cost of stock and I am limited by the amount of capital I have at my disposal. This loan would allow me to purchase larger quantities and reduce the cost of frequent trips to source and deliver goods. I could also expand my range into clothing accessories, such as handbags, shoes and men’s clothing.
I work three days a week as a domestic worker. I have a loyal customer base with a high repeat business and have been operating this business for 7 years. I am organized and confident that I can grow the business provided I can access additional working capital by means of this loan.
Total loan applied for R2,000
This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.
