Hendrik Plaatjies has lived all his life in Hawston and spent 40 years in the building industry becoming well-known and respected in the region. 15 years ago he was seriously injured in a motor accident which meant he was unable to continue working. Now fully recovered he has returned to the industry he knows so well but is finding it difficult to obtain start-up capital for the necessary tools and equipment.
“I have always been self-employed and looked forward to the opportunity to start up my business again. I have already secured a sub-contract to paint the newly constructed municipal houses in Hawston and this has allowed me to employ four local community members and one from Zwelihle. I have started advertising my other services such as building, plastering, tiling, paving and painting in the Hermanus Times and have had a very good response. My aim is to contribute in a positive way to the local economy and I ultimately envisage employees having a stake in the business. Because of my business experience at a later stage I would love to act as a mentor for Hermanus Siyakha in the Hawston community.”
Total loan applied for R12000
This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.
When clicking on the crowdfunding page you may find that your chosen project is already ENDED. This means that either the project is already fully funded or, that the time available to raise the funds has elapsed. In which case kindly search for another project to contribute towards.
If you wish to donate to the general running expenses of Hermanus Siyakha please return to the Home Page and click on the “Donate to Initiative” button.
