Godleck Baleni has been a successful pig farmer for the last three years. He is part of a collective with 20 other pig farmers on recently acquired land in the Hemel and Aarde valley. In September, the Western Cape Dept of Agriculture assisted the farmers with the provision of feed and medication for the well-being of the animals.
He requires a loan to help expand his business in order to supply chicken patties and pork sausages which he will manufacture himself from the kitchen at the RDP Youth Centre in Zwelihle. Besides using his own pig stock, he also intends purchasing chickens from a local supplier. The loan will be used to purchase an industrial meat mincer and sausage maker, as well as a mechanical scale and other specialised items. Godleck has done his market research and has identified a gap in the market for “home-grown and home-made” meat products.
Total loan applied for R5000
This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.
