Description

Thuliswa and her sister Pamela Fihla inherited their father’s business when he passed away in 2010.  He started the business in 2004 purchasing chickens wholesale and selling them to outlets in Zwelihle.  The business was very successful and he was able to support his family and put his 5 children through school and send Thuliswa to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology where she obtained a Diploma in Management.  Pamela ran the business after her father’s death, and Thuliswa joined her in 2016.

The business is well-known in the community and they own a bakkie with which they collect the chickens each week from Philippi, and a large chest freezer in which they are stored.  The business is registered with SEDA and they are busy obtaining a tax clearance from SARS and opening a separate business bank account.  The business operates from their home, which is near the New Harbour. Thuliswa said: “I drew inspiration from my Dad’s business and want to start my own business – a Tshisa-Nyama.  The most urgent item is a display freezer.  Later we will need two picnic-style tables and a gas braai as we want to convert part of the lounge into a seated braai area, selling cooked meat such as beef, pork and lamb to supplement the existing chicken sales.”

Total loan applied for R10000

This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.

When clicking on the crowdfunding page you may find that your chosen project is already ENDED. This means that either the project is already fully funded or, that the time available to raise the funds has elapsed. In which case kindly search for another project to contribute towards.
