Sindile comes from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape and as the first born, which is unusual in the isi-Xhosa culture, was introduced to cooking and food preparation by his mother. This has stood him in good stead, as when he lost his job in Hermanus, he turned to cooking to earn a living. He attended the Grootbos Foundation entrepreneurial training course in mid 2019, and was a successful recipient of a grant from Grootbos, with which he bought equipment to start his Tshisa Nyama business from his home in the heart of Zwelihle. He has learnt that to grow a business takes hard work, and appreciates that building a business is best done with one small step at a time. Sindile would now like to grow his business and is requesting a loan of R1500 for poles, ropes and stays so that he can erect a stretch tent in front of his restaurant, for his customers to sit under and enjoy his home cooked meals. His entrepreneurial spirit sees him being able to offer his customers free wi-fi in the future.
Total loan applied for R1500
This project has been set up to succeed through a careful vetting process together with ongoing mentorship and management. Repayment of your loan will only take place at the end of the loan period (usually 12 months) and not monthly. However, as we cannot give any guarantees, in the unlikely event that the project does fail you will not receive the full repayment of your loan but a pro rata percentage depending upon what portion of the loan has been recovered from the business owner.
